The Cable Guy is an absolute stunning looking animal, the photos don't do him justice!.  Commenced his racing career as a later three-year-old in June (​after having had numerous trials and jump-outs!) debuting over 1500m at Bendigo and finishing second behind the more than handy Oyster Lane, who has since placed numerous times and accumulated $168,000 in stakes. Second-up, he returned to Bendigo over a mile and finished fourth, beaten 3.91 lengths on a Heavy track, acquitting himself quite well.

He then had a freshen-up before resuming over 1400 metres in August, defeating Fioryourowngood by one length. Fioryourowngood has since franked that form by winning three races in a row, culminating in a last-start win on 7 October. He’s absolutely flying at the moment, which really strengthens that form.

After breaking his maiden in August, The Cable Guy stepped out again on 5 September over 1400m in a Benchmark 56 at Mildura, winning and defeating Drunken Sailor while starting a $2.80 favourite.

His latest run was on 6 October over 1400m on a Good track. He ran fourth in what was a solid effort, and certainly no disgrace. He’s been an ultra-consistent galloper, and it’s very hard to find horses that are so regularly in the finish. From five starts, his record reads two wins, a second and two fourths, so you really can’t fault him.

Moving forward, I think you’ll find he’s a lovely prospect for the provincial circuits around Australia and should be suited to racing in any state. He’s handled all track conditions to date and remains lightly raced. Being by So You Think, you’d expect him to continue to mature with age and find his mark in the right grade.
