When you're buying a horse out of the Patrick Payne stables you know it's had the best education a horse can have, being in the hands of exceptionally good conditioners.鈥 Takebloodstock sold horses out of the stable have done very well in recent times. They include; Zebedee Springs, Funnyifitwon, Lily Allez, The Ineos, Babu King, Marcolt, Need A Miracle, Duke Of Wellington, Secret Location, Major Makeover, Pop Quiz, Eddy Street, Warrandyte Road, Pub Crawl, Stepchild, Lang Park,
Itwasonlyakiss (IRE), En Primeur, Tee Galleria, Sasterion etc. If we went back further the list would just keep going!

  • Powering Away has had nine starts for one win and four placings, finishing second at Mildura over 1100 metres on 24 May 2026 before winning his maiden over 1206 metres on 11 July. He then finished fourth in Benchmark 56 grade at Mildura on 5 September.

  • His latest run was at Warnambool on 1 October over 1200 metres on a Heavy 9 track. Stewards reported that Billy Egan said "the intention had not been to lead, but the horse began well and found himself in front without being asked. He weakened in the straight and did not handle the heavy conditions". He appears to have a real dislike for bottomless heavy tracks, although he has handled slow going. Warrnambool can be a particularly testing track in heavy conditions, with rain-affected ground often making it difficult for horses to travel comfortably and conditions potentially favouring certain racing patterns. Given the stewards’ report comments about Powering Away’s dislike for heavy going, his latest performance may be best forgiven..

  • The form from his second at Mildura has since been franked by Restless Wind, who went on to win a $50,000 Benchmark 64 at Murray Bridge before finishing third in a $150,000 handicap at Caulfield over 1100 metres on 11 July, beaten two lengths. This gives a good indication of the quality of that form and suggests Powering Away is worth considering on suitable ground.

  • Looks well suited to the weaker provincial circuits, where he should make a good money-spinner placed in the right grade. Overall, he's been a consistent performer, finishing in the top three in five of his nine starts to date. His latest run on the Heavy 9 was his worst performance, with his previous defeats generally coming by margins of around one to three lengths, highlighting his competitiveness when conditions suit. Looks well suited to the weaker interstate circuits, where he should make a good money-spinner placed in the right grade.

  • Recent vet inspection (report attached below) found him to be  in good general health, with no visible lameness, a normal airway and a right foreleg tendon that has appeared slightly enlarged, the ultrasound examination was within normal limits & stable have said it's been this way throughout his training, without causing any issues;. He has moderate arthritis in the left knee following previous surgery to remove a bone chip, which is monitored and managed as required.

Stable notes: "Nice type of horse. Suited to a lesser racing jurisdiction, with some give ground likely to be beneficial. Out of work since last run while owners weighed up racing on or selling. His right foreleg tendon has always looked slightly suspicious, but hasn't caused him any issues to date. Recent vet report supplied".

    See vet report from  below.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ:

auto bid v bid directly
You can "AUTO BID" your max bid and the platform will automatically bid on your behalf, to your max, without anyone EVER knowing your highest bid, starting at the minimum increment of $100 above the current highest offer (over $3000 it's $200). Check though, as "BID DIRECTLY" bids will override an AUTO BID, should the same bid be placed (or closest to). i.e  Your limit is $10k and you auto bid that amount, someone chimes in manually at $10k also (or closest to, $9900), their bid, being the BID DIRECTLY bid, will count over your AUTO BID bid, so be mindful.

when extra time "might" be added
(P.S ALWAYS remember to refresh your browser when monitoring or bidding, MAINLY the last minute of the countdown. Also check your bid ID, in some instances in the last minute, bidders have thought they're still in front when they're not.  (EXTRA TIME will be re-added continuously if there's a bid placed inside last 60 seconds - until no further bids within last 60 seconds, this is why it's important to REFRESH browser on EVERY 1st bid back inside 1 minute, to see extra time added & displayed to countdown clock). This applies even with 1 second to go, as the platform may take just over 1 second to process bid before close.
