• What we have on offer here is a lovely four-year-old gelding by Magnus, who has had six starts for one second, two fourths, with his racing experience ranging from 1400m through to 1800m, and he has also been tried over 2000m.


• Rarely loses far. Ideally, he seems best suited at this stage over the mile range. To date, he has run some good races on the tougher Victorian circuits, including a fourth at Pakenham on the synthetic over 1600m, beaten 2.31 lengths. He also acquitted himself well at Casterton over 1800m, on that occasion beaten by approximately half a length and unlucky not to have pinched his maiden.


• His last run was over 1600m on 21 August, when he really didn’t look comfortable in the heavy conditions, although he has placed on heavy ground previously. On this particular occasion, jockey Brad Rawiller said after the run that he felt the horse simply didn’t get through the conditions, and he was beaten 5.85 lengths.


• The owners are traders. He has had his time with them and has stayed longer than he normally would in their system. Please refer to the disclosures below before proceeding.


• He looks like he would be well suited to most provincial tracks around Australia, where the grade may be a little weaker than what he has been contesting. I think he will appeal to somebody looking for a horse that is ready to go, still has a little scope for improvement, and is mindful of the disclosures below.

DISCLOSURES: The horse was vetted last year for potential export to Hong Kong. Under the stringent veterinary requirements applicable to Hong Kong, the examination identified a degree of sesamoiditis and arthritis in both the left and right front fetlocks. He has continued to race since that examination and, according to the stable, has raced with these findings and been fairly sound to date. The horse has also been seen to windsuck.
