• He's as honest & versatile as they come this fella. If you've got 1600m-2000m-2200m-2400m+ races in mind, then put him on your shopping list, that's where he's at his best.


• Boats a lovely 2nd at Sandown over 2400m in BM64 company on a good rated track.


• Had a 5 week freshen up after his handy 5th in ADELAIDE Saturday company (11th April) behind $280k + earner Alainge, over 2500m, beaten around 2.5L.


• 2 runs before that were solid 2nd's over 2200 and 2100m, so he's certainly been knocking on the door ithout breaking through.


• Today (10/07) he resumed (after a solid 4th in his Cranbourne trial 18th May) and as mentioned by his trainer in the stable notes today below, it just wasn’t his day. He was travelling into it like he was going to let down and his jockey reported to connections that he didn't find. Stewards report informs us that: "What A Cross A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg and an endoscopic examination identified a degree of internal exercise‑induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected What A Cross’s racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding being permitted to race or officially trial again".


• His owner feels that "there's definitely some meat on the bone" with this one. He knows his horses well & i respect his assessments. He's kept this one a lot longer than most of the non-H.K trade horses & he's had his time.


• I could see him campaigning well in most states of AUSTRALIA, even in VICTORIA still.
  
  Stable Notes: “Lovely horse to deal with - good swimmer - lovely ride - great to do absolutely anything with . Today pulled up With an EIPH and was a bit sore , he may have pulled or strained a muscle today in running. Has to get a vet clearance before racing next after today's run, but in my opinion there shouldn't be issues gaining that clearance. Never had a soundness issue with him at all throughout his career. Still got wins in him, placed under the right conditions. Has always shown mid-week metro class staying potential. Just failed to handle the heavy conditions & track today. SLOW to firmer tracks are ideal. Doesn’t carry much weight in training, 15.31/2 hh approx”.
